Busuu Live is the live, teacher-led tutoring layer of Busuu, a London-based language-learning company founded in 2008. The core product is a self-paced app teaching about 14 languages to over 100 million registered users, and Busuu Live sits on top of it as a paid add-on with a managed pool of vetted, certified teachers.
Lessons come in two forms. Group lessons run 45 minutes with a maximum of five students matched to the same CEFR level, available in about six languages — English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Dutch. Private 1:1 lessons are offered in any Busuu language but are oriented mainly toward Business accounts. All lessons mirror the app’s course content for preparation and review.
Busuu Live is sold separately from the standard Premium subscription (about $13.99/month). Live lessons are bought as credit packages of 2, 4, 8 or 12, at roughly $10.50-$13 per group lesson. The wider business is owned by Chegg, which acquired Busuu for about $436 million. It suits app users who want periodic live speaking practice with a vetted teacher in a small group.
