Skooli is an on-demand online tutoring platform that connects students with certified teachers through a browser-based virtual classroom. Founded in 2014 and based in Canada, it markets itself on the credential level of its tutors: rather than using a general pool of subject experts, Skooli requires tutors to hold formal teaching qualifications. Students create a free account and can either request instant help or schedule sessions in advance.

The platform vets tutors more strictly than many marketplaces. Tutors must hold, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree with a teaching certification, or a master’s/PhD, and every tutor passes a national-level criminal reference (background) check. Tutoring is delivered entirely online through an integrated classroom with video conferencing, text chat, screen sharing, an interactive whiteboard, and Google Drive integration. Subjects span K-12 and college-level coursework, including math, science, English, languages, and test preparation.

Skooli uses a pay-as-you-go model rather than subscriptions. Sessions are billed at roughly $0.82 per minute (about $49 per hour) with a 15-minute minimum, so families pay only for time used. New users are typically offered a free trial session. The per-minute structure suits students who need occasional, on-demand homework help or exam-crunch support rather than an ongoing weekly program, and the certified-teacher requirement appeals to parents who prioritise formal credentials.
