Classgap

Classgap is an online tutoring marketplace based in Barcelona, Spain, that connects students with private tutors worldwide. Relaunched as Classgap around 2014-2015 from an earlier project, it focuses on online, one-to-one private lessons across more than 100 subjects, including languages, academic subjects, and exam preparation, with its interface offered in multiple languages.

Students select a subject, browse tutor profiles, and book a time slot; many tutors offer a free 20-minute trial lesson so students can assess fit before committing. Lessons take place in Classgap’s own virtual classroom, which includes video, a whiteboard, and real-time document creation shared between tutor and student. Tutors set their own rates and can bundle classes (for example packs of 5, 10, or 20 lessons) at better prices.

Tutors keep the bulk of their fees, but Classgap charges a tiered commission that decreases as a tutor logs more hours: roughly 32% for beginners, scaling down through 27%, 23%, and 18% to about 16% for the most experienced tutors. It suits learners across Europe and beyond who want flexible, fully online private lessons with a free trial and the option to buy lesson packs.
