MyTutor is a UK online tutoring platform founded in 2013 and based in London. It specialises in near-peer tutoring, matching school pupils (primarily GCSE and A-Level) with handpicked tutors who are students and graduates from top UK universities and recently sat the same exams. MyTutor sells both to families and to schools, partnering with around 1,300 schools.

Families choose a subject and level and are matched with suitable tutors; they can message a tutor and book a free 15-minute meeting to check fit before paying. Lessons run in MyTutor’s own online lesson space with video chat, messaging, and an interactive whiteboard. Tutors are vetted and trained — the company states only about one in eight applicants are accepted — and all are DBS-checked to UK safeguarding standards.

Pricing is pay-as-you-go with no sign-up fees or subscriptions: students add credits and book lessons as needed, with tutor prices starting from around £26/hour and rising by experience tier. MyTutor reports a community of over 10,000 tutors and was acquired by IXL Learning in 2025.
